HOW TO CHOOSE A PEN NAME

Q – How do writers choose a pen name?

A – It's usually personal. Most writers choose a name with some significance to them. A woman may use her maiden name, or just initials for her first and middle names when she doesn't want the readers know she is a woman. A man might use just initials to enter the woman's publishing arena. There are no legal or specific guidelines for choosing a pen name. It's just your choice. On the rare occasions when I've needed a pen name, I've used my middle name, and my father's family name before it was changed when they moved here from England: Elizabeth Marchant.
